Kosova declared its independ from Serbia on Sunday, mounting a historic bid to become an independent and democratic state backed by the U.S. and key European allies. Prime Minister Hashim Thaēi began reading the declaration proclaiming the Republic of Kosova as "an independent, sovereign and democratic state."
